Coaching/Education/Training
Greater Manchester Community Basketball employs eight full-time, seven part-time staff and fifteen temporary coaching staff.
In order to manage the Club effectively, a restructure was agreed and implemented. The Operations Officer was appointed in October 2009 to manage and co-ordinate the Club’s business.
In order for the Club to sustain the delivery of a quality managed basketball opportunity in the City, there is a need to review and provide ongoing personal training and development of staff and volunteers to provide a succession plan for the future. The future success of the Club and sport in the city is dependent upon continual personal development, clear communication and partnerships.
Given the large numbers of young people involved directly with the Club, there is an opportunity to engage with the partners in identifying a career pathway for young people who would like to stay involved in the sport in either a voluntary or professional capacity, to achieve the following.
- To maintain young people within the sport, post 16, to coach, officiate and volunteer.
- To agree with partners an action plan for coach education, for players, coaches and officials.
- To review and agree with our partners, to provide educational opportunities on an ongoing basis.
- To agree an action plan that provides training for referees and table officials.
- To identify opportunities to support and mentor other Clubs within the City.
- To identify resources with the partners to support the training education programme.
