Development Programme

The establishment of the Amaechi Basketball Centre has provided a wide range of development Mystics Huddle opportunities and activities with a focus on basketball, from under 8’s to open age programmes and competitions.

In order for participants to achieve their own potential, there is a need for a coordinated and seamless development pathway to improve.

The purpose in providing a comprehensive development programme to the community has always been the focus of the Club.  The direction of the Club has, however, been determined in some cases by the lack of local structured competition. Therefore the Club has been limited in its decisions to enter the Regional National Leagues, at the younger end of the programme.

The development programme provides coaching, practice, competitions, mentoring, access to coach education and training of officials.

GeorgiaThe role of the Club is to ensure that there is sufficient human resource to deliver a safe and friendly environment and enjoyable programmes which meet the needs of the community and individual player. To be consistent in providing a quality coaching programme, it is paramount that the Education and Training programme is reviewed regularly.

The role of the coach is to deliver a strong link between primary and secondary schools and to communicate regularly to create a strong and sustainable link with the Club.

To secure the future success of the Club, and deliver the Club’s aims, objectives and outcomes, there is a need to commit to a three year business plan / Development Programme and a funding arrangement with the partners. This is critical to the future sustainability of the Club and development of the sport of Basketball in the City.

Further work is required to review existing programmes with our partners and to create a stronger relationship with EB and to identify other potential partners, sports colleges, school sport coordinators, primary link teachers, colleges and universities.
